American vocal harmony group from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Boys II Men, will be performing at the St. Kitts Music Festival. The announcement of their inclusion in the 28th edition of the event was made by the organisers of the event on May 19, 2026.
The officials have shared that the group has been active for more than four decades and has fans among different generations. The group was originally formed in 1985 with four members, Nathan Morris, Wanyá Morris, Michael McCary and Shawn Stockman.
The group’s bass singer Michael McCary left the group in 2003 because he had been facing some health issues. Ever since, the group has been that of the remaining trio, who have been making and performing music for more than two decades.
After their creation in 1985, the group created music for six years before they saw commercial success in 1991. In this year, the group entered the mainstream music industry with the release of their debut studio album, Cooleyhighharmony.
The album consisted of the singles “Motownphilly” and “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday,”. Both these songs peaked and reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. They also released the single, “End of the Road,” which reached the Hot 100 and stayed on the top of the chart for 13 weeks. In 1992, this was a record for the music industry.
The group broke this record two more times with their releases “I’ll Make Love to You” in 1994 and “One Sweet Day” (with Mariah Carey) in 1995.
Both the subsequent songs set new records for spending the most weeks at number one.
The popularity of the group was not only limited to the hot 100 billboard, they also won four Grammy Awards in the 1990s. After these achievements, Boys II Men were recognised as one of the “biggest boy band” in a 2012 retrospective by Billboard.
The music experts believe that the musical work of the boy band has been influential on the R&B genre, and Boyz II Men have been listed among the greatest doo-wop vocal groups of all time.
