Three individuals who are nationals of Belize and Jamaica have arrived in St. Kitts and Nevis on May 19, 2026. The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis received the after they were formally from the United States of America (USA).

The government has entered into an agreement with the United States of America to absorb a certain number of immigrants. The transfer is being done in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Governments of St Kitts and Nevis and the United States of America. 

The MoU was signed keeping in mind the transfer of some third-country nationals who are citizens of CARICOM Member States. The government has confirmed that as per the arrangement outlined in the MoU, the federation will not bear any costs for the transferred individuals. 

The officials have shared that the individuals will be processed through the established immigration and security procedures of the country. They will then be granted the immigration status and legal accommodation ordinarily applicable to CARICOM nationals within the Federation.

The Government has also informed the general public that all relevant national security, immigration, and law enforcement agencies have been working together. They have been involved in the transfer process from the beginning. 

The Government of the United States has also provided the biographical, medical, and criminal background information for the three individuals. The information reached the authorities in the United States before the transfer of the third country nationals.

The government confirmed that the individuals who have been transferred to the federation Do not carry any criminal convictions. The reason for their transfers is more in relation to the immigration violations in the United States of America. 

The individuals who have been transferred to St. Kitts and Nevis are  allowed to relocate their countries of origin if they wish to. This decision is dependant on the discretion of the individuals and the laws and immigration requirements of their respective home countries.

The Government has announced that they are working on ensuring responsible management of issues related to migration. The authorities also said that they will make sure that they are in alignment with their international obligations, and maintain the safety of their people.

In light of the previous miscommunications and rumours which surrounded this issue, the government is asking people to trust the official government sources to get any new information in the matter.
