St Kitts and Nevis launched “Electronic Travel Authorization” on May 26 as a means to digitize travel. The aim of the project is to improve the travel experience of the people coming from the various parts of the world to St Kitts and Nevis.
The officials have shared that the eTA project and the Biometric Corridor, both are part of the country’s digital vision. The government had confirmed that the programme will help make travel faster, smoother, hassle free and and smarter.
With the eTA System, the travelers can upload their documents to an online portal. This way people have make sure that the tourists can complete their formalities without even entering the nation.
At the same time, St Kitts and Nevis can also approve or disapprove travellers based on their history. The aim of the eTA is to make sure that the borders of the island nation also remain safe and secure.
The aim of eTA is to make the immigration process easier for both the authorities within the country and people outside of it. The eTA and biometric corridor also reduce the time of processing and travel to St Kitts and Nevis remain hassle free.
With the help of the eTA and the biometric corridor, the government gets all the relevant information about the travellers. With everything existing in a single database which makes it easy to document travellers.
The safety of the information that the travellers are providing electronically to the government is the responsibility of the St Kitts and Nevis. The officials have shared that electronic travel authorization speeds up the immigration process, but also adds another layer of protective checks to make sure that questionable people are not approved to enter St Kitts and Nevis.
The government and stakeholders responsible for the eTA have confirmed that they are evolving. Government is receiving reports of the concerns that some travellers are raising with respect to data safety and privacy. The government remains open to suggestions and dialogue on the issue as they move forward with addressing any problems that are cropping up.
The eTA was launched nearly two months ago and has already made travelling to St Kitts and Nevis easier for thousands.
The success of the eTA was highlighted by the Prime Minister and Minister of National Security in a recent press conference. The Prime Minister said that during the Music Festival, the eTA registered more than 21,000 visitors,
The system has a 98% approval efficiency. The officials have shared that both locals and travellers have been benefitting from eTA. Digitization will continue to make the island future ready.
