Trinidad and Tobago: Two men of Morvant, San Juan, Trinidad and Tobago were shot dead while they were on their way to buy avocadoes near their house on the morning of Monday, September 19.

The victims, identified as 35-year-old Keston Baldwin and Rahim Greaves, were walking on Valley Road, Romain Lands, Morvant, at approximately 10:30 am when an unknown vehicle, a silver Toyota Axio, drove up, said the Police officials.

Four men who were dressed in Muslim women’s clothing got out of a car and started shooting at Baldwin and Greaves.

The shooters have not yet been identified, and police officials are looking for CCTV (closed-circuit television) around the vicinity of the incident to ascertain the shooters’ identities.

After executing the crime, the shooters got inside the vehicle and drove off.

The local residents of the area heard the gunshots being fired and came running to the spot of the incident. They found both men bleeding. One of the local residents took Greaves to the Port of Spain General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by the doctor on duty.

Morvant police officials visited the area with a district medical officer who pronounced the other victim, Baldwin, dead at the scene.

The relatives of both the victims refused to comment on the incident as they were still in a state of shock.

Investigators have further stated that Baldwin had also been shot earlier in June but survived the attack.

Police suspected the murders might be connected with a gang war between criminals in Romain Lands and St. Francois Valley Road. The Homicide Bureau Region II is still investigating the murder of both the victims.

There is a sudden surge in shooting incidents in Trinidad and Tobago, mostly related to a gang war.

Several have also been held for the country’s possession of arms and ammunition.
