Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis Dr Terrance Drew, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Geoffery Hanley presented the 2022 Taiwan Scholarships to eleven deserving students. The students received their scholarship certificates during a brief ceremony at the Palm’s Court Gardens and Restaurant on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
Prime Minister Drew, who was also present at the event on Thursday, extended his congratulations to the students via a Facebook post. He shared the photographs of the event on his Facebook profile days after the event, thanking the government of the Republic of China, Taiwan, for encouraging the people of our country and enhancing their academic and leadership abilities.
On his Facebook account, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew wrote:
“Congratulations are in order for the eleven nationals of St Kitts and Nevis for being the recipients of the 2022 Taiwan Scholarships, namely Mr Hakim Blackmoore, Ms Teresa Dias, Mr Everton Liburd, Mr Rasarles Nisbett, Ms Jermellia Henry, Mr Dahjaal James, Ms Vadelle Jarvis, Ms Zidane Knight, Mr Devon Peters, Mr Lestron Simpson and Mr Deonje Woodley, whose ambition and commitment to their educational and career advancement motivated them to apply for these scholarships.
Thanks to our dear friends, the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan), who continue to encourage and enhance our people’s academic and leadership abilities.”
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of St Kitts and Nevis, along with the resident ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), were also present at the scholarship award ceremony on Thursday, August 18, 2022, and extended their very best wishes for the future of these students.
Geoffery Hanley urged the students to return to their country soon, ready to contribute to its development.
Seven students of the eleven recipients received the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) scholarship awards, while the other four received the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF) scholarships
