Days after Nevisian mother Linette Farrell buried her only son and child as a result of gun violence in St Kitts and Nevis, Farrell has called on the youths to let “Shaheem’s unfortunate and senseless murder, be a wake up call and a Life Changing Lesson.”
In a message posted via Everton Powell’s FaceBook Page, Ms Farrell also penned a message to parents and the murder or murders who ended her son’s life and appealed to them to “put down your guns.”
She urged the youths to “”listen to your teachers, parents and family members. Parents ensure that you are keeping your children on the straight and narrow path. In doing so, maybe, just maybe, we can stop the breeding of these heartless criminals. To the murderer or murderers, I forgive you and I beg you a million please, to put down your guns.
Shaheem was the only child to be born on the island on the 15 May, 2000 and to date, the only one who have passed. I stand to be corrected,” she said.
Farrell said that within two hours of going to the hospital, he was born and just so he departed in a wink.
“Let me as a mother of an only child, his hundreds of friends and family, be the last to ever experience such pain and hurt. What is done is done, but the onus lies on all of us now, to ensure that this madness cease once and for all. Hear my cry o Lord, hear my cry.”
Farrell also thanked hundreds if not thousands of persons for their inspiration, prayers and overall support.”
Twenty-one-year-old Shaheem Farrell of Church Ground and 23-year-old Xavia Howell of Morning Star, were gunned down on October 22, 2021 as they sat together on a bench at a popular beach restaurant.
