The Governor-General of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis, His Excellency Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton GCMG, C.V.O., QC, J.P., LL.D, signed the Book of Condolence for the Late Richard Llewellyn Caines, C.S.M., J.P., on Thursday, August 27, 2020.

His Excellency, the Governor-General, joined a long list of citizens and residents including government officials, family, members of the business community and friends, who are mourning the loss of Mr Caines, who died at the age of 87 July 27, 2020.

Sir Tapley, served in the P.A.M. Administration as Attorney General and he was a colleague and close friend of the late Richard Caines.

Mr Caines was a politician, philanthropist, businessman and friend.

Mr Caines was the Junior Minister of Finance in the Dr Kennedy Simmonds People’s Action Movement Administration, and he was one of its founding members.

The P.A.M. was founded in 1965.

He was also a businessman and opened B.E.C. Auto parts in 1982.

Also, he was a philanthropist and gave generously to many charitable causes.

On Tuesday, June 21, 2016, Mr Caines was conferred with the Companion Star of Merit (C.S.M.), A National Honours Award, for his contribution to the field of business.

His Thanksgiving service for the Late Richard Caines will take place on Saturday, August 29 at 1:00 pm at the Warner Park Cricket Stadium.
