According to the data from the World Health Organisation as of August 5, 2020, in the past 25 days, The Federation of St Kitts and Nevis has not recorded any new cases of COVID-19.
St Kitts and Nevis, the popular Caribbean destination is yet to announce a date for reopening its borders.
It is noteworthy that the Federation had only 17 cases and no deaths due to the COVID-19 disease.
The latest Emergency Powers Regulations, which are imposing restrictions on regular international travel, will be expiring on August 8.
Meanwhile, a training programme for the hospitality industry which is supposed to continue till August 27 has been arranged by the Government of the twin-island Federation.
The training programme would prepare the tourism workers for the long-awaited arrival of visitors in the country following strict safety and health protocols.
The Government would also launch a track and trace mobile app, which would be mandatory for all the visitors coming into the country.
The app would use geofencing technology and would alert the users when certain devices would enter the set boundaries. The app would also provide tourists with health updates as well as updates regarding the new arrivals into the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr the Hon. Timothy Harris said last week on the Leadership Matters programme that the app would facilitate contact tracing and also facilitate the management of suspected cases in the country through real-time feedback.
He added that all the visitors would be asked to comply with our protocols and to obey our Emergency Powers Regulations of the country.
