Facing the possibility of suspension or being debarred from practicing law, Minister of Tourism and International Trade, Hon Lindsay Grant was told Saturday he is “the worst tourism minister ever.”
Havard-trained Grant, who has been ordered by a High Court Judge to appear before a Disciplinary Commitee consisting of two High Court judges for breach of trust, breach of fudiciary duty and misappropriation of US$460,000 (EC$1.2 million) belonging to a client, was greeted by a poster mounted on two utility poles in the constituency he is presently the Member of Parliament.
“Worst Tourism Minister ever!!! Go ask Taxi Men,” the poster reads.
Taxi operators and tourism stakeholders have said the 2019/2020 cruise ship season has been the worst in years.
With the 2019/2020 projecting less cruise ship calls and less passengers compared to the previous 2018/2019 and several cancellations by ships, taxi men are complaining bitterly that they are not making enough money to pay their mortgage for their taxis and meet other financial obligations.
One source said many Cabinet colleagues boycotted Grant’s well-advertised walk-tru in the Old Road Community on Saturday.
A video posted on social media has a male person saying: “Want Mr Grant. He got questions to answer in #4. Waiting on Mr Grant to ask questions.”
