The People’s Action Movement has elected Shawn Richards as the leader of the political party after the organisation concluded an internal election on September 1, 2026. Richards is succeeding Natasha Gray-Brookes into the position of the political leader.
Notably, he has served as the leader of the political party previously and led the party into the 2022 snap elections.
The previous leader of the Political Party, Natasha Gray Brookes stepped down from the position of the leader of the Political Party on July 31, 2026. After being elected into the position of the leader for the second time, he addressed the members of the Political Party.
He thanked all the members of the political party for trusting him to lead the People’s Action Movement.
He said that he is accepting the duty with humility, gratitude and a deep sense of duty. In his address to the Political Party he also congratulated Lincoln Pelle who was his fellow contender in the internal election for leadership of PAM.
He said that Pelle demonstrated brave and competitive spirit and earned the newly elected leader’s respect. Shawn Richards applauded his fellow party member’s dedication and commitment to the party.
The new leader of the Political Party has also congratulated Laverne and Shermel, who were elected Public Relations Officer and Assistant General Secretary respectively after the internal elections.
The new Political Leader of the People’s Action Movement has asserted that he is looking forward to working with each of the members as they collectively start building the next chapter of the People’s Action Movement.
The new leader outlined several goals of the political party for the new chapter of the political party. The leader also said that he will conduct meetings with members of the political party to work on the mandates that he has in his mind including uniting the political party and strengthening it.
The new leader also announced a church service and invited all the members of the political party, including the executive arm to attend. The newly elected leader said that going forward, his approach as Political Leader will be different.
He promised to work on listening more, getting greater understanding and becoming compassionate about the concerns of our members.
