The Ministry of Health St. Kitts and Nevis is hosting a Breast Pump & Breastfeeding Accessories Drive initiative to commemorate the beginning of World Breastfeeding Week 2026. The initiative commenced on the first day of the August month (Saturday August 1) and will run through to the next month on September 30, 2026.
In the drive initiative the Ministry is requesting everyone in the communities to donate breastfeeding accessories and educational materials. The interested individual can donate breast pumps, pump parts and accessories, nursing pillows, breast milk storage bags or containers, nursing pads, nursing covers, and breastfeeding books.
The Ministry also urged the public to take part in the drive initiative, as it aims to support mothers and families in need. The Ministry said, “In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week 2026, the ministry of Health is inviting the public to support mothers and families through the donation of new or gently used breast pumps and breastfeeding accessories”.
The Ministry made the announcement of the drive initiative online on their official social media handle where they mentioned the drop-off locations for donations. The interested individuals can drop the accessories at the Health Promotion Unit, all Health Centre, JNF General Hospital and Alexandra Hospital.
Moreover, for any queries regarding the drive they contact on the mentioned number 664-2276. The Ministry stated that the donation will help them in supporting mothers and families. The Ministry said, “Your donation can help empower breastfeeding mothers, support babies and strengthen families”.
Notably, World Breastfeeding is a global campaign which takes place every year from August 1 to 7, 2026. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action WABA, an international organization who coordinates it globally. The World Health Organisation WHO and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund UNICEF support the WABA in organizing the campaign globally through guidance, endorsement and by promoting breastfeeding worldwide.
This year the campaign was held under the theme of “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen what Works”.
