Abhijith Srinivasan, a young sailor is representing the St. Kitts and Nevis at the international platform the 2026 International Laser Class Association 4 Youth World Championships. The tournament is taking place in Aarhus, Denmark for nine days. The event commenced on Saturday August 1 and will conclude on August 9, 2026.
The Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre shared the information regarding Srinivasan’s participation in the ILC 4 tournament. The centre shared that Srinivassan is the first young sailor who is representing the federation in the championship. The centre said, “Abhijith Srinivasan makes history as St. Kitts and Nevis debuts at the 2026 ILCA 4 Youth World Championships”.
Moreover, Srinavas is participating in the Under-16 category of the ILCA 4 class where he will compete against 131 sailors. Overall, the championship features 877 sailors from 56 countries, while the ILCA 4 class includes 300 sailors from 45 countries competing against each other.
Additionally, the championship officially began yesterday August 3, 2026 with a marching band where all the sailors across the world marched together with their national flags. The Nevis Aquatic and Sailing Centre shared the glimpse of the march online on their official social media handle where Shrinavasan was marching with other sailors across the world.
The center said, “Love seeing our flag on this world stage, Let’s go Abhijith!!”. Danielle Connor, the chairperson of the Nevis Aquatic and Sailing centre expressed that the entire centre felt proud of Shrinvasan for representing the federation on the international platform. Connor said, “Seeing him reach the ILCa Youth World Championship is something our entire sailing community can be proud of”.
He further mentioned that his participation in the championship will inspire the next generations sailors across the island. The schedule of the upcoming days in the tournament:
4–6 August – Qualifying Series
7 August – Qualifying Series / Final Series
8 August – Final Series
9 August – Final Series and Prize Giving Ceremony
