The Ministry of Health St. Kitts & Nevis received 20 Emergency Medical Response Backpacks donated by Direct Relief on Monday July 13, 2026. The donation of the backpack was done in a ceremony which was attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr. Terrence Drew.
Curtis Martin, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health in St. Kitts and Nevis, government and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) officials accompanied the Prime Minister in attending the ceremony. The announcement regarding the donations was shared by the Ministry of Health St. Kitts & Nevis on their official social media handle.
The Ministry also appreciated the Direct Relief initiative of donating the 20 Emergency Medical Response Backpacks. The Ministry stated, “The Ministry of Health extends heartfelt gratitude to Direct Relief for their generous provision of 20 Emergency Medical Response Backpacks”.
Additionally, the ministry explained that the backpacks will be distributed across the health sector in the federation. Further the ministry explained that the Ambulance Emergency Response Team will receive the Emergency Medical Response Backpacks as it helps them to treat the patients during the emergency efficiently.
The Ministry said, “These specialized packs will be deployed across the health sector, beginning with the further equipping of our ambulance emergency response team”.
Moreover, the ministry mentioned that the partnership with Direct Relief will support the island’s emergency medical response capabilities. They also believe that it also helps in making sure that people within the federation will receive timely medical attention in emergency situations and enhance life-save care across the island.
The Ministry of Health stated that the ceremony attended by the Prime Minister and the Emergency Medical Services(EMS) officials reflects the importance of the partnership in the national level and health sector. The ministry said, “Their presence underscored the national importance of this initiative and the shared commitment to advancing healthcare delivery”.
Notably, the ministry acknowledged the Direct Relief Organisation for Choosing St. Kitts and Nevis for their global outreach initiative and contributing in transforming the journey of the federation in the health sector.
