Ambassador-Designate of Switzerland, Pascal Bornoz visited the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. He presented his credentials to Dame Marcella Liburd, during a brief but cordial ceremony at Government House.
The event was proof of the growing diplomatic reach of the twin island federation. The island has been taking steps to expand their diplomatic presence to more nations across the globe.
The presentation of credentials is an important step in the direction of improved diplomatic relations with the rest of the world. The officials have shared that St Kitts and Nevis remains interested in further strengthening the longstanding diplomatic relations and cooperation with Switzerland.
The ceremony which was hosted at the Government House saw the Governor General engage the Ambassador Designate in a crucial yet fruitful discussion. Governor General Dame Liburd discussed international cooperation from the point of view of St kitts and Nevis.
Governor General and Ambassador-Designate Pascal Bornoz reaffirmed the shared commitment of both nations to fostering closer ties and mutual understanding.
Ambassador Bornoz was appointed ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the Dominican Republic, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, the Republic of Haiti and the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis, based in Santo Domingo in October 2025. The Ambassador officially started his term in the office of the Ambassador after presenting his credentials. He is also expected to meet with the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew soon.
Prior to his appointment to the Caribbean, Ambassador Pascal Bornoz served as the Consulate General of Switzerland in Chicago. He will be serving as the representative of Switzerland to St Kitts and Nevis for a standard diplomatic rotation of 3 to four years.
The previous ambassador of Switzerland, Rita Hämmerli-Weschke has recently completed her tenure in St Kitts and Nevis.
