St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps celebrated their 109th Anniversary on Tuesday 2, June 2026. This year the organisation celebrated the occasion without any official ceremony. The organisation shared the information of marking their 106 year legacy on their official social media handle.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps was established on June 2, 1917. The Cadet corps organisation is one of the oldest youth institutions of the twin islands. It is also the only youth institution in the Federation legislated into law.
In their social media post the organisation mentioned their motto and vision they shared, Since 1917, the Cadet Corps has remained committed to developing young people through discipline, leadership, service, and national pride. We continue to inspire youth ages 12 to 18 to challenge their limits, build confidence, develop life skills, and become responsible citizens dedicated to their country and community”.
In St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps every individual cadet has undergone training, resilience, teamwork, and character building process. All these terms help them in shaping their human values towards the society including loyalty, integrity, respect, courage and excellence.
According to the Federation, over the century St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps have constantly worked on development of the youths of the twin island federation. The organisation also contributes to the overall development and growth of St. Kitts and Nevis.
Notably, last month a cadet Sergeant Huggins from the organisation represented the St. Kitts and Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps at the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association (SKNYPA) Parliamentary Sitting.
This reflects the organisation’s vision of development of youth and providing opportunities to the cadets to experience practical working along with armed forces and government.
Moreover, the organization not just focuses on military training they also work on shaping every cadet into well- rounded young leaders. Which in further future help in nation-building and civic engagement.
