Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew met with the students of St. Kitts and Nevis who are studying in Taiwan during a lunch meeting. He took to his social media to share some glimpses from the lunch interaction where he was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Daini Prince-Drew and ambassador Leon Natta-Nelson.
The Prime Minister is on a one week state visit to the Republic of China (Taiwan) starting on November 12. During his visit he has met with several diplomatic partners from Taiwan and discussed cooperation between Taiwan and St. Kitts-Nevis in various sectors of their economies.
During the lunch meeting which he held with the students, the Prime minister and his entourage spoke to them about their life in Taiwan. The prime minister asked the students about their experience while studying in Taiwan, he also discussed how their lives have changed after Covid-19.
Further, he discussed the challenges that they are facing, or are likely to face during their tertiary education and the opportunities that they are likely to have in their careers. Dr. Drew said that he was very inspired by their resilience and their ambition for their futures. He also lauded the students for the love that they have for their country.
The prime minister assured the students that the government of St. Kitts and Nevis will continue to work for their benefit. Their collaboration with the Republic of China (Taiwan) has helped hundreds of students from St. Kitts and Nevis gain access to tertiary education in various fields of study.
Prime Minister Drew said that the government will continue to work with Taiwan and will bring opportunities like this for students back home and abroad. He promised the students that the government will support them and stay connected with them throughout the period of their studies.
It is the government’s aim to make sure that all the students feel supported, valued and connected with their homeland. He urged all students to work hard and achieve their goals with the support of their academic brilliance.
