St Kitts and Nevis has temporarily suspended postal services for all packages bound to the United States of America. The announcement has come after the issuance of the Executive Order 14324 by the U.S. Government.
This executive order does away with the duty-free “de minimis” customs exemption for international parcels valued at $800. The new tariff laws require the parcels to undergo a complex set of checks and custom processing.
The new laws came into effect on August 29 wherein even the small packages including several small packages with personal belongings. The complete rules for the customs and tariffs have not been clarified with any amount of certainty.
As such, till all the facts are cleared on the side of the United States of America, several nations across the world have temporarily stopped postal services. The office has shared that several nations, including Canada, India, France, Spain, and fellow Caribbean nations have temporarily suspended services.
Pending further clarifications on the rules regarding the movement of packages from the United States of America, these services will remain suspended. The postage of letters, documents and other crucial personal communications, which do not include things of monetary value et al will be accepted.

The officials have shared that it is important for them and several other nations to have clarification and confirmations on all the requirements.
