As the people of Dominica are going out for voting, social media is flooded with information and misinformation. In the recent incident on social media, opposition party United Workers Party got very excited as the local leaders and supporters have started to push false information through the internet.
According to information collected from social media and other sources, UWP has put up new allegation on Dominica Labour Party that army has been called upon from Venezuela for peacekeeping in Dominica. Following the same, Caribbean news organisation, WIC News labelled all the allegations as false information after the confirmation of Dominica’s Minister of National Security, Rayburn Blackmoore.
After UWP flooded social media with information regarding Armed Forces or Troops in Dominica, the agency confirmed the information from Minister himself. Who confirmed that there are no Troops from Venezuela, and the information is totally malicious and false.
The organisation also quoted Minister that only Regional Security Services (RSS) peacekeeping forces are present in Commonwealth of Dominica.
