Saddlers Secondary School is being renamed in honor of Former Prime Minister and long serving representative of Constituency 6 in St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas. The name change will be applicable in the new term starting September 1, 2025.
Changing the name of Saddlers Secondary School has been on the cards for several months. The Minister of Education had announced this development with respect to the name change of the school.
The name change is being done in acknowledgement of Dr Douglas’s diligent work for the people of St Kitts and Nevis. The school serves the students of constituency 6 and has been one of the most prominent schools int the community. ‘
The school stakeholders, members of the management and students has welcomed the gesture. The present Minister of Foreign Affairs has served as the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis for the longest period in the history of the island nation.
From 1995 to 2015, Dr Denzil Douglas was the Prime Minister of the country. The former Prime Minister of ST Kitts and Nevis has served as the Parliamentary Representative of C-6 since 1989.
His work for the betterment of Constituency deserves to be honored in this way. The stakeholders of Saddlers Secondary School have announced that the name change will be done with proper ceremony.
The authorities have thus invited the people of the island to attend the name change ceremony which will be hosted on September 1. The ceremony will start at approximately 9 AM. The renaming ceremony is all set to coincide with the start of the new session.
The ceremony will be attended by the members of the government of St Kitts and Nevis. Dignitaries, students and other members of the community. The officials have shared that it is important for the people of the country to honor and acknowledge that work done by the political leader over the last three decades.
