Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Commerce, Dr Denzil Douglas, marked his 36th anniversary as an elected member of the Parliament with a Thanksgiving Service at the Church of God of Prophecy. The service was held on March 23, 2025 at Newton Ground with people of Constituency #6.
The service was attended by family, colleagues, and constituent members of Minister Douglas. It was a moment of reflection and gratitude for the veteran politician’s years of service to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
Minister Douglas thanked and appreciated all the love, support, and kindness he received during his service. He shared glimpses of the church service on his official Facebook account through a post.
The post paid a tribute to the people of the village who were with him on the beginning of his journey and has inspired and fortified him by their leadership support during his term. He also stated that these people have helped him pursue the vision of empowerment of his people, communities and constituency.
Foreign Minister Dr Denzil Douglas also thanked his high school friend, Franklyn Dorset, who visited him just after the 36th Anniversary Church Service. He posted his meeting on his Facebook account and said that his friend greeted him with a safari full of tourists on a tour to the beautiful island nation.
Dr Denzil Douglas’ political career
The Foreign Affairs Minister served as the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis for twenty years, from 1995 to 2015. He also holds the title of the longest-serving Prime Minister of the twin island nation. Minister Douglas was also the leader of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party (SKNLP) from 1989 to 2021.
Minister Dr Denzil Douglas was born in 1953 and studied medicine, obtaining a Bachelor of science degree in 1977 and a Degree in Medicine in 1984 from the University of the West Indies at Cave Hill.
