Nevis: The exhibit of paintings by famous artist Howard Pain of Charlestown has been displayed in the Social Security Building at Pinneys. The walls of the different government offices in the building have been filled with creative paintings and art works.
For the first time ever, the exhibit is designed for the Nevis Island Administration and will run for six months. The paintings are beautifully curated by the Charlestown Gallery, displaying the vibrant culture of the island nation of Nevis.
Painters Deborah Tyrell and Clayton Huggins explained the paintings and shared the stories behind their creation. The unveiling of the paintings was held in the presence of Premier Mark Brantley who shared glimpses and said that the exhibit was amazing.
He invited the people to visit the building and see the artwork done by the renowned painters. The exhibit is aimed at enhancing and appreciating the artwork crafted by painters.
Howard Pain of Historic Charlestown hosted painting exhibition earlier in Nevis through “Meet the Artist” event back in March 29, 2022. The artwork dubbed “Historic Charlestown: Fine Old Bones.” was displayed in Hamilton House Museum for a week, inviting people to meet the artist and learn about the art work of the painting.
Through the exhibition, artist Howard Pain showcased the blend of Nevisian culture with historical aspects through large format book of paintings and historical comment.
Notably, Howard Pain is a Canadian artist who resided in Nevis for a long time. He also has a long career in advertising and graphic design, making his way towards artwork.
Howard and his wife visited Nevis in 1990 and loved the scenic beauty of the country. They further decided to establish an art gallery with a plan to return to his early interest in painting.
Since then, he produced great artwork and showcased stunning and historic architecture of Charlestown.
