Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Olympic Committee of St. Kitts and Nevis (SKNOC) has announced Jennifer Nero as the First Female Vice President. Her election marks a history as she is the first ever female to be nominated.
The announcement of her election was made on July 3, 2024 by the St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee. Her service has always been of great significance and she has been serving the committee for a decade now.
Jennifer Nero has been a dedicated member of St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee since 2014 and she is currently serving as the Women in Sports Commission Chairperson. She became the sole nominee for the position of SKNOC Vice President.
Nero was officially proclaimed as the new Vice President by Francil Morris, who served as the election supervisor. Her election marks a significant milestone in the history of St. Kitts and Nevis Olympic Committee.
Her election as the Vice President also reflects the organisation’s commitment to gender equality and empowering women in sports leadership.
In accepting the new position, Jennifer Nero expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the member federations for their confidence in her abilities. She stated that she is committed to upholding the Olympic motto of ‘higher, faster, stronger, together.’
Nero further addressed that she will do her best and continue to push for excellence within the organization and for the sports of St. Kitts and Nevis in general.
She steps into the Vice President position left vacant following Dennis Freddie Knight’s election as the new SKNOC President.
After the election of Jennifer Nero, the member position is vacant. An election to fill the vacant member position will be taking place on July 22, 2024.
