St Kitts and Nevis are two islands forming a federation in the Carribean. It is the one of the most immaculate and peaceful island nations in the region. It has bright blue skies, lush green forests and pristine beaches, which urge one to stop and appreciate its natural beauty, making it the perfect place to organise a cross channel swim challenge from one island to the other.

The event is a 4km open water cross swim. The swimmers will swim along a strait that seperates St Kitts from Nevis and the Caribbean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean, making it a distinctive ocean swim.

The event will begin at Oualie beach, located in North West Indies and head across the ‘Narrows’ to end at Cockleshell Bay in the South East of Kitts.

RULES TO BE FOLLWED ARE:

  • The swimmers should of 14 years and above
  • The swimmers must have paid the entry fee

RESPONSIBILTIES OF THE SWIMMERS:

  • The swimmers are solely responsible for their participation
  • The oragnisers cannot be held liable for any kind of theft, loss, breakage or any kind of accident that takes place while takin part in the race
  • The organisers, sponsors and collaborators take no responsibility for the actions of swimmers and their companions that may lead to claims/lawsuits by third parties.
  • The organisers have also stated that they are not responsible for infringements by participants, of stipulated national and regional waters or beach regulations

REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: –

  • Registration will be issued in exchange for an entry fee
  • Participants should have their registration receipts to avoid any exclusion from the event
  • Registration fee is non-refundable
  • Registration will close at 23:59 pm, 31st march 2024 or when the event slots are filled

Starting Procedure: –

  • Participants need to gather 15 minutes before the commencement of the race
  • Participants are supposed to come to the mark 5 minutes before the race begins
  • The start will be signaled by a whistle or the blast of a horn

EQUIPMENT TO BE CARRIED: –

  • Swimmers are expected to wear swimwear but this is not compulsory
  • Swimmers are required to wear swim goggles
  • Swimsuits must be FINA approved
  • Swimmers are required to carry official hats which will be provided by the organisers and tow float are also to be carried by them during the event
  • The use of snorkels is prohibited.

The use of, mp3, radio devices etc. during the event is prohibited.

Age Classification: –

Awards will be offered in male and female categories in the following age groups:
Under 14

  • 14-19
  • 20-29
  • 30-39
  • 40-49
  • 50-59
  • 60-69
  • 70-79
  • 80

The government organised this event to boost tourism and interest in tourist attractions in St Kitts and Nevis. This will enhance economic development, bring new market policies and foster socio-cultural relationships.
