Prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew has announced a meeting with the members of the diaspora in Canada. The prime minister will host the meeting in the sidelines of the prime minister’s Canada visit for the Canada-Caricom Summit.
The Prime Minister will be accompanying a small delegation of high level ministers to the meeting in canada, being helmed by the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau and the chairperson of the CARICOM, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit. This is the inaugural Canada-CARICOM Summit. Accordingly, the event holds tremendous significance for the international relations of CARICOM and Canada.
On the sidelines for this event, Dr Terrance Drew will meet and interact with the people of St Kitts and Nevis living in the diaspora. The minister of foreign affairs in the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas will also be present at the interaction.
The meeting with the members of the diaspora will take place at the chancery of the High Commission, 421 Besserer Street in Ottawa. On October 19, 2023, the prime minister, Dr Terrance Drew and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Douglas urged the people in the diaspora to come and interact with their leadership.
In the past, the Prime Minister has hosted several editions of diaspora meetings and meet and greets. Through such initiatives, they seek to get in touch with the various people of Kittitian and Nevisian Roots. The initiatives also allow the people of the country living in the diaspora to connect with the country and their leaders.
The meet and greet will be hosted by the high commission on October 19, 2023. The prime minister shared that the meeting will start at 6:00 PM and run till 8:00 PM. Through these discussions, the prime minister Dr Terrance Drew seeks to give the people in the diaspora to come together and interact with the leaders.
The two leaders have issued an invitation to the people in the diaspora to come and interact with them and communicate their expectations with them.
