The Ministry of Agriculture, fisheries and the Marine resources in the government of St Kitts and Nevis is launching the 25 by 25 agenda. The federal minister of Agriculture, fisheries and the marine resources et al, Samal Duggins, and the Minister of Agriculture in the NIA, Eric Evelyn have been committed to ensuring food security for the people of their country.
Accordingly, the two ministers are working in their respective authorities to ensure that the Federation can attain food security and food sufficiency. To launch the official 25 by 2025 Agenda, the ministry of health invited all media houses, farmers, fishers and members of the public to join the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday 27th July 2023.
During the launch ceremony, the ministry promised to discuss the way forward, reveal major announcements and engage in meaningful discussion with all agricultural stakeholders across the twin island of St Kitts and Nevis.
Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives, Samal Duggins and Eric Evelyn, Minister of Agriculture in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) are set to deliver brief remarks. The official social media page of Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and the marine resources shared the update of the launch ceremony.
They further announced that Permanent Secretaries, Miguel Flemming (Ag) on St. Kitts and Huey Sergeant of the Nevis Island Administration, Directors of the Departments, Deputy Directors and technical officers from both islands are also expected to be in attendance during the launch event for 25 by 25 Agenda by the ministers.
The roll out of this comprehensive plan which is designed to secure food self-sufficiency and sustainability in St. Kitts and Nevis will outline the targets which have been set to contribute significantly to reducing the food import bill on a national and regional level.
Agri Large Conference Room will serve as the venue for the event on Thursday July 27, 2023. The event will take place from 10am-12pm
