Latoya Jones, the youngest candidate of the assembly elections of Nevis, representing the Concerned Citizens Movement from constituency #5, St Thomas, laid out a comprehensive plan for her constituency.
In a recent Social Media post, the candidate from Nevis 5 talked about her plans for the constituency in terms of road infrastructure and street lights.
Latoya Jones’ plan regarding the development of St Thomas Parish laid out a detailed and comprehensive plan of action for various sectors of importance in the constituency. These sectors include housing, small business development, and job creation, among other things.
Talking about the plans that she has in terms of road infrastructure and street lights, Latoya Jones laid out the following points:
•She committed to making efforts towards the enhancement of the road network in St. Thomas, especially Village road of Cotton Ground, Westbury, Clifton Estate etc.
•Latoya Biyana Jones promised that new and improved drainage would also be a feature of the road system
•Latoya Jones committed to the Installation of street lights in poorly lit districts, such as the road leading from Cotton Ground to Barnes Ghaut and from Barnes Ghaut to Paradise Estate
•Speed Bumps will be installed in certain areas of the community, including Westbury and Craddock Road), to protect the safety of pedestrians
•There will be a comprehensive street naming program to honour our local sheroes/ heroes.
On November 24, 2022, Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) and the serving Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley, announced the dissolution of Nevis Island Assembly on November 25, 2022, during an address for the people of Nevis.
Premier Brantley emphasized that this decision was taken with the consideration of Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew and the Governor-General of St Kitts and Nevis, Sir S. Tapley Seaton.
The nomination day was observed the next Monday, December 5, and the elections the week after on December 12, 2022.
