Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew attended the Diwali celebration event hosted by the members of the Indian community residing in St Kitts and Nevis. The deputy Prime Minister, Dr Geoffery Hanley and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas and Attorney general, Garth Wilkin, also attended the festivities along with the Prime Minister.
The community hosted the event at St Kitts Marriot Resort on Friday, October 21, 2022. The Indian community of St Kitts and Nevis hosted the celebration event days in advance of the Hindu festival of lights. According to the calendar, the festival was observed in the rest of the world on Monday, October 24, 2022.
During the event, the attendants and the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, witnessed traditional Indian dance, music and culture.
The Indian community of St Kitts and Nevis put up a show for the Prime Minister and his comrades. Most of the event’s attendants, including the Attorney General of St Kitts and Nevis, Garth Wilkin, were dressed in beautiful Indian-styled dresses, Kurtas, sarees and lehengas for the occasion.
Following the event, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew took to his Facebook account to commemorate the event and share his experience.
He expressed his excitement and happiness in attending the celebration event dedicated to the Hindu festival of lights as a speaker.
Through his Facebook post, The Prime Minister recognized and applauded the enormous contributions the Indian community has made and continues to make within our Federation.
In particular, he referred to the contributions in the fields of entrepreneurialism and business.
Following this, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew concluded the Facebook post with the words, “Everyone can make a unique and positive contribution to the larger society.”
