The administration of the Technical Mission of the Republic of China (Taiwan) has picked two Non-Governmental Organizations in St Kitts to execute two community projects. The community projects were implemented under the Women’s Employment, Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion Project.
The National ICT Center in St Kitts witnessed the signing ceremony on Friday, October 21, 2022. The signing ceremony was the first step towards funding the projects’ Hustle and Grow’ and ‘Empowering Women Living with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)’.
TabSKN Ltd implemented the first project, ‘Hustle and Grow’ under the leadership of Managing Director Gardenia Destang Richardson.
Under this project, previously trained women will get a chance to develop projects and pitch their ideas for funding. This idea takes inspiration from the concepts of two U.S. television shows – The Apprentice and Shark Tank.
According to Destang Richardson, while everyone may not be successful, all will gain invaluable experience and knowledge to help their future endeavours.
Lake Health and Wellbeing, along with its Programme Director Abi Begho, executed the second project, Project Empowering Women Living with Non-Communicable Diseases. Under this project, stakeholders will provide training and capacity building for women to empower them in a number of areas, including financial responsibility and managing their illness while living well.
The government of the republic of china initiated the women empowerment projects in November 2021. The projects were implemented in eight countries.
Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), His Excellency Michael Lin, was also in attendance at the signing ceremony. During the event, Lin noted that Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is proud to fund the initiatives under the Women’s Employment, Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion Project.
Ambassador Lin reported that the projects based in St Kitts are the first to be approved and aligned with a critical global strategy. Junior Minister responsible for Gender Affairs, Isalean Phillip, commended the Government of the ROC for partnering with the government of St Kitts and Nevis in these efforts.
