St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC) have shared an update on their social media account regarding the successful hosting of the J’ouvert Morning festivities. Further, St Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee shared that thousands of revellers attended the event, and onlookers frolicked in downtown Basseterre between 5:00 AM and 12 noon on Monday, 26th December.
Further, the update stated that several event attendants considered this as the largest J’ouvert in St Kitts in recent years. The event featured a record twelve J’ouvert Troupes and Road March contenders.
Further, the update revealed that, To a large extent, the J’ouvert was incident-free. Meanwhile, talking about an unfortunate incident during the festivities, the carnival committee noted that the fatal stabbing occurred around 10:00 AM on Fort Street during the street jam.
The update revealed that The victim sustained a stab wound in the abdomen. He was subsequently rushed to the hospital by Police. The stabbing victim received treatment. However, the victim could not escape the incident and succumbed to his injuries.
The Violent Crime Unit of St Kitts and Nevis is investigating the incident.
