Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis has welcomed Xiomara Perez, the Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of the Panama to St. Kitts and Nevis and Barbados. Both the officials met during a courtesy call at Brantley’s office at Pinneys Estate on Friday 27 March 2026.
Before the meeting with the Premier of Nevis, Xiomara Perez presented her credentials to Dame Marcella Liburd, the Governor-General of St. Kitts and Nevis during her official visit to Nevis on Wednesday 25 March, 2026.
At the meeting both officials discuss on strengthening diplomatic and historical ties between both the nations. For several years Premier Mark Brantley has served in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) as Minister of Tourism. The meeting between the two leaders highlighted the historical ties between both the countries St Kitts and Nevis and Panama.
Premier of Nevis Brantley, stated that he was very pleased to welcome Xiomara Perez to Nevis. He further mentioned the old links of Panama and St. Kitts and Nevis as during the construction of the Panama Canal many island citizens went there. This also reflects both nations’ long relationship. Brantley also said that they were looking forward to strengthening and developing their relations with the people of Panama.
Xiomara Perez mentioned both nations have to enhance people to people engagement as it helps more effectively in making a strong diplomatic relationship between Panama and St. Kitts and Nevis.
She said, both countries share close ties but there are more opportunities for deeper connections. She further talked about her visit, that it has the aim of strengthening bilateral relations, promotion of cultural understanding and to expand collaboration in economic areas such as tourism, trade, logistics and other key sectors. Perez also appreciated Nevis’ progress in the agriculture sector.
Moreover, during the meeting between the Primer of Nevis, Mark Brantley and Ambassador Xiomara Perez exchanged symbolic gifts with each other, which reflect their respective nations. And further they have discussion on topics such as connectivity, trade and broader avenues for cooperation.
