The Government of Jamaica suspends the “no-movement” days on the island and give relaxation of 1 hr in the curfew timings. The government noticed that citizens of Jamaica have been dealing with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness said that these relaxation and new guidelines would remain in effect from September 18 to the morning of September 29. The new curfew timings would be from 8 pm to 5 am and would remain the same on days from Monday to Friday.
PM Holness said on Saturdays, the curfew will begin at 6:00 pm and continue into a no-movement day on Sunday until 5:00 am on Monday.
PM Holness highlighted in Parliament that the changes that have been made in the curfew timings do not show that the government is loosening up the health safety measures, but this relaxation is given to solve the current problems of the transportation and the logistic.
According to the new guidelines, the approaching National Heroes Day would be a no-movement day, but the vaccination sites would remain open for inoculation on that day.
The government of Jamaica permitted funeral services with 20 people. This would come in effect from Saturday. Burials have also been permitted on Monday and Friday between the timing from 9 am to 4 pm. 15 people have been permitted on the burials. Burials would not be allowed on national holidays.
PM Holness reported that the public gathering would be limited to 10 people while the gathering limit for church services would remain at 20. The number of people permitted to attend a wedding physically or annual or extraordinary general meetings remains at 20.
No physical attendance would be allowed at any event hosted by a public entity other than virtual events. Work from home protocols in the public sector has also been extended till September 28.
PM Holness urged the employers to stay at home in case the work can be done from home. Only those employees should come to office those can not work from their home.
