Dr Denzil Douglas, Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, engaged staff in their first interactive session on Thursday, August 18, 2022.
While delivering his brief remarks, Minister Dr Douglas thanked and appreciated the staff members at the ministry “for providing the necessary services of the government of St. Kitts and Nevis from this particular platform.”
Dr Douglas noted that the ministries under his purview are critical to the further advancement of St. Kitts and Nevis, and it will take the efforts and commitment of all to push further the agenda of the ministry and the Federation.
“The Ministry of International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs is a ministry that we believe is a major industry in the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis. It is one of those ministries, together, when twinned with Foreign Affairs and Economic Development and Investment, emphasizes the thrust that this administration would like to pursue in realizing the goals and aspirations of our people as would have been mandated through the results of the last election,” said Minister Dr Douglas.
Minister Dr Douglas indicated that staff must remain prepared and vigilant for the challenges ahead to push the country’s agenda and boost economic activity.
“Are you seriously being challenged to achieve some of these specific goals?” Dr Doughlas asked.
He added that if they were not being challenged now, they (Dr Doughlas and the staff members at the ministry of international trade) would not be able to sit together and ensure that each of us is challenged to achieve the specific objectives and goals of this government at this time through the interworking of this particular ministry.
He insisted that they prepare from here to take on this new challenge given to us with him as the minister and deal with this challenge. together
Further, he urged the staff to understand their roles and what they are required to do.
Further, he urged the members of the staff at the ministry to look into the specific roles that marketing and promotion may also play and whether this has been given sufficient support to make the overall success of the outputs from this particular minister,” Dr Douglas added.
