Caribbean: Foreign Ministries of the Caribbean Community had a meeting with US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in which Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves also participated.
This meeting is the new step towards the introductory and an opportunity to exchange the plans and views on mutual interests and their countries.
The main topics and plans on which this meeting was based were the economic effects that these countries faced after the COVID-19 pandemic and get the solutions for the recovery from this stage of an unstable economy.
Matters related to climate change and security were also discussed with facts and figures
related to them.
The CARICOM-US relations are said to be a long cover path of partnership in terms of security, climate controls and help in the situation like pandemic COVID-19.
This was the second most important meeting after the Biden-Harris administration has taken office, and last month the Foreign Secretary of States Antony Blinken and Foreign Ministries of CARICOM also met with some important issues of their community.
At the end of the meeting, Sullivan said that this relation should now be institutionalised under which both countries can work in a systematic manner and have regular meetings between the heads of the Caribbean Community and the US president. Like this, both countries can become helping hands for each other in critical times and also the CARICOM can grow rapidly economically with which the development will also move on the same pace in future. The CARICOM will adopt many patterns of work from the US administration that they will find useful for their country further in future and the community will become out like a shining gem of the world.
More meetings are said to be scheduled between the US and CARICOM in the future to discuss important matters and topics.
