The third edition of the World Citizenship Report has been published by the world’s leading advisory and Citizenship marketing firm, CS Global Partners. The firm based in the United Kingdom has been annually putting together the world citizenship report for the global citizens since 2022.
The theme of the World Citizenship report for this year’s edition was responsibility, peace, freedom. The third edition of the report gave significant focus to the responsibility of the Global Citizens
Ireland has emerged at the top of the rank table in the 2024 edition of the World Citizenships Report. The report evaluated over 188 nations across the globe on the basis various factors affecting the preference of the Global Citizen.
With an impressive score of 86.6 in the World Citizenship Index. Ireland stands tall at the top. Switzerland, who secured an equally impressive rounded sore of 86, follows Ireland in the second spot.
The top-ranking nation in the 2023 edition of the World Citizenship Report, has slipped to the third place with a score of 84.6. The rankings of the various nations depends on five modes of analysis or motivators.
Five Motivators of the World Citizenship Report
- Safety and Security,
- Economic Opportunity,
- Quality of Life,
- Global Mobility, and
- Financial Freedom.
Across the continents, the citizenships of many countries outshone their larger and more economically developed counterparts. The performance of the high ranking nations in the five motivators was the major factor allowing them to surpass their counterparts.
Ireland which emerged at the top of this year’s World Citizenship Index scored highly for its safe and stable society. The other factors lending support to high rank of the country is its growing economy, and financial freedom.
The country is known for its beautiful and lush environment. The economy of the country has been considered as growth-centred and boasts of a democratic stability. Last year’s top scorer (ranked third on this year’s WCR), Denmark, also received top marks for Quality of Life, Financial Freedom, and Safety and Security.
Ireland is also in the top three countries in terms of Safety and Security, according to the World Citizenship Index. Ireland, alongside Iceland and Switzerland are all known for having a robustly protected natural environment.
Ireland is also the top scorer in WCR Economic Opportunity findings. The nation features a high GDP per capita and boasts of falling inflation rates. The country has a strong knowledge-based economy, with its grounding in technological innovation and financial services.

World Citizenship Report is the first of its kind to take in account the priorities of the High Net Worth individuals while ranking the citizenships.
World Citizenship Report Focuses on Responsibility
This year, the report focuses on the responsibilities of the global citizens in light of the fact that almost 50 percent of the world population is going to vote in the year 2024. Global citizens will vote not only with themselves in mind, but also with the wider world in mind.
In line with this thought, the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of CS Global Partners, Micha-Rose Emmet observed, “For global citizens, responsibility is about thinking beyond oneself and considering the greater global community.”
The CEO also noted that with half of the world’s population excercising their right to vote this year
“We are witnessing the greatest democratic moment in history.”
The focus of the 2024 edition of the World Citizenship Report relates directly with the previous year, which discussed freedom of global citizens. Further, the report correctly points out that that in 2024, global citizens are experiencing responsibility in one of its purest, most acute forms.
In light of the international circumstances, The World Citizenship Report (WCR) aims to be a data-driven tool to understand the chaotic, often contradictory and demanding responsibilities of global citizens.
The experts take a multitude of factors influencing the value of citizenship and reflect on the issues that affect the global citizens most often. The experts who lent their time and expertise to the WCR conducted a global survey of HNWIs’ priorities.
These surveys helped them come up with effective ways in which they can rank the 188 nations to align with the priorities of the High Net Worth Individuals. The World Citizenship Report ranked all the nations in line with the five motivators mentioned previously.
