Wicked, starring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Xfinity at home on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, with its physical release like DVD, and Blu-ray, expected on February 4, 2025.

The movie based on the long-running Broadway musical of the same name, is available for streaming after 40 days of release in theatres, on November 22, 2024.

Wicked is directed by John M. Chu and is a prequel to “The Wizard of Oz”, exploring the life of the wicked witch before she encounters Dorothy.

The wicked witch, named Elphaba is played by Tony Award winner Cynthia Erivo while Ariana Grande plays the role of Glinda who narrates the story of the wicked witch.

According to media reports, Wicked has earned more than $400 million domestically and more than $187 million internationally, a box office hit of $599 million against a $145 million production.

Plot and Premise of Wicked

The movie is about two witches – Elphaba who is wicked and has green skin, and Glinda who is blonde and beautiful.

The musical follows their journey from disliking each other to forming friendship and a strong bond, explaining Elpahaba’s journey of becoming a wicked witch and Glinda’s journey of becoming the good witch.
