The Police Force of St Kitts and Nevis has been working to curb the sharp rise in the crime in the recent past. After a recent surge in armed violence, the country, the police force has been taking critical steps to address the surge in violent crime. They have increased the patrol force’s presence in all the communities nationwide. The team of the St Kitts Police Force have recovered another illegally possessed handgun.
The police force was on their routine patrol of the communities during the recovery. The weapon was recovered on Monday, June 5, 2023. The police force was on a routine mobile patrol and searched along a Spooners, Cayon road. The police force has been recovering illegal firearms from the homes in several communities nationwide. This has been one of the most worrying indicator of surge in violent crime.
Further, when the police found the handgun, they decided to investigate further. The team further reported that they found a bag concealed by household refuse. In this bag, the Crime Scene Unit found one (1) .38 Special Revolver with a number of rounds in its barrel. The team took the weapon into Police custody for further processing. The police force of St Kitts has announced that they will share further details on the crime with the public accordingly.
The police beliieves that the homicides that took place concurrently on Monday and Tuesday, June 5 and 6 are linked to gang violence. In line with this, the police has announced deployment of more forces in the most affected areas, to bring the situation under control.
In line with this, the force of St Kitts has asserted that Public cooperation and collaboration provide immense assistance with solving crimes. Community protection is impossible without community involvement. Accordingly, RSCNPF is making an urgent appeal to the general public for their assistance in this and all other matters involving the breaking of the law.
