Police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of twenty-three-year-old Wilbert D Pemberton on New Road, Basseterre, in St Kitts and Nevis.
The incident occurred near a mechanic shop store between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm on 19th November 2023. No arrests have been made yet related to the shooting and the murder.
According to preliminary investigations, Pemberton was walking alongside the road when an armed assailant shot him several times in the body.
It was reported that Joseph didn’t die immediately after the shooting, but he was carried by an ambulance to the French General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Unfortunately, his injuries proved too severe, although the medical doctors tried their best to retrieve the wounds were beyond, and he died during the operation.
Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force Crime Scene Unit (RSCNPF) processed the scene and took some evidence into custody. The investigation of the case is ongoing and a case has been opened .The public will be duly informed of the progress on the case.
The RSCNPF extends its sincere condolences to all those affected by this incident and has encouraged the residents of St Kitts And Nevis to come up front if they have any information regarding the incident or to contact Crime Stoppers on 707.
The people of the federation were left in shock due to this incident. The residents of St Kitts And Nevis are advised to be vigilant whenever they walk, and all the community members should report all the crimes they witness during day and night because there is no small or big crime. All crimes should be reported.
RSCNPF has stated that it will work on both the police officers and the people to stop these ongoing crimes in St Kitts and Nevis which is ruining the country’s peace.
