Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis: The Department of Community Development and Social Services launched a month-long calendar for ‘International Day of Families’, which will be started on May 15 until June 15, 2024. The committee will host activities from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day.
The people of the Federation are cordially invited to become a part of festivities, to celebrate the existence of family and their importance in the lives. The officials of the Department of Community Development have shared the update with public through their official social media handle (Facebook).
“It is officially Family Month! Although we commemorate International Day of Families on May 15, it is customary for us to host a wide range of exciting activities through a month-long calendar of activities from Mother’s Day to Father’s Day,” added officials.

Family Outdoor Movie Night
– St. Pauls Primary School at 7:00 PM
Saturday, May 18
Conaree FC Family Potluck
– Bummers Park, Conaree at 4:00 PM
Sunday, May 19
Family Sunday
– People’s Evengelistic Centre at 9:30 AM
Saturday, June 15
Family Fun Day
– Newtown Playing Field from 1 PM to 6 PM
The celebration underscores the importance of family as it holds a special place in the lives of the people for many reasons. Family provides emotional and mental support in tough times, fosters a sense of belonging and identity.
Additionally, the communities in St. Kitts and Nevis celebrate the month as a festival. During this month, various activities and events are organized by various community groups, schools, government agencies and churches among others.
The events generally take place in parks, beaches, community centres and many more. The days encouraged the individuals to prioritize spending time with families.
