The Department of Sports in St Kitts and Nevis is all prepared to host the Ginseng Up Classic, a thrilling school track event on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at the Nevis Athletics Sports Stadium.
As per the information, the event will be held scheduled from 12:30 PM onwards and the tickets are priced at $25 for adults, and $10 for children 12 and under. The inside parking charges are $40 (with driver).
During the event, there are eight high schools, competing against each other and displaying their speed and skill.
These Schools are as follows:
- Basseterre High School
- Cayon High School
- Charles E Mills Secondary School
- Charlestown Secondary School
- Gingerland Secondary School
- Saddlers Secondary School
- Verchilds High School
- Washington Archibald High School
The Ginseng Up Classic will be held under the patronage of several sponsors. These include Nelson’s Spring, Islander Nevis, Carib Brewery, Development of Sports Nevis, Nevis Island Administration, and the Government of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Qualified team at the Ginseng Up Classic, will get a chance to represent themselves and their nations Internationally for the CARIFTA Games 2024.
The previous year, the Ginseng Up Classic 2023 was held on Sunday, February 2023 at the Kim Collins Athletic Stadium from 12 PM onwards.
The Charlestown Secondary Shoil Lions stood champion by securing the greatest medal counts. The Community school captured 10 golds, 7 silvers, and 1 bronze.
Following it, Basseterre High School and Washington Archibald High School, secured the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. They captured 8 Golds, 11 Silvers, and 10 Bronze, 8 Golds, 3 Silvers, and 6 Bronze Positively.
Some of the remarkable highlights from the match are, that 13-year-old De’Cheynelle Thomas hit a boasting record by taking 55.87 seconds in the 400-meter race at the Ginseng Up Classic.
This incredible performance has qualified here for the 50th CARIFTA Games scheduled on the 8th-10th of April 2023.
Further, Kamarley Newton was also among the other qualifiers for the CARIFTA Games 2023. He successfully secured his slot in the 200 meters at Ginseng Up Classic.
