St Kitts and Nevis Electricity Company Ltd. (SKELEC) recently concluded the “Health and Safety Week 2025.” This week-long event, held from April 23 to May 2, was filled with SKELEC Team participating in several activities. These activities focused on safety, innovation, and artificial intelligence.
The Health and Safety Week 2025 was celebrated under the theme – SKELEC: Creating a Culture of Safety Using AI Capabilities. Notably, the programme focused mainly on the usage of AI that can help the staff and team of the SKELEC in working more smoothly.
Highlights of the Health and Safety Week 2025
The week started on April 23, 2025, with “Power Talk,” a talk show which was hosted at ZIZ radio. The radio programme discussed the topic of, “Prioritizing Safety in an Electric Utility.”
Furthermore, on Saturday, April 27, the SKELEC team attended a church service at Rivers of Living Water Christian Center. The organization further launched its HSSE Policy Statement and honored six dedicated employees as Safety Champions. The employees who were recognized by the SKELEC Management included:

Lunch & Learn – An Initiative By SKELEC
In addition, the St Kitts and Nevis Electricity Company introduced the Microsoft SharePoint Intranet platform on April 29th. The launch of this platform was done during the annual “Lunch & Learn” session.
The programme will allow SKELEC personnel to report safety issues from any device. Moreover, on May 1, the St Kitts and Nevis Electricity Company organized the Safety Al Challenge where six participants recreated PPE gear for Al detection.
The officials shared that the challenge was won by Justin Woodley, who came out on top. Jonelle Jones secured 2nd place and Marsha Phillips won 3rd place during the competition.
The final event for the week was “Hydration Day” which was organized on May 2. The aim of the initiative was to talk about the importance of wellness in safety. The week-long series of programmes highlighted the importance of falling in line with changing needs of the people.
