Premier of Nevis and leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantley and the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis met at the office of the Prime Minister in St Kitts. The two leaders were present at the PM Office, in Basseterre, for a brief ceremony.
During the ceremony, Michael Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), presented a cheque to Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew. The government of Taiwan presented this cheque to aid and assist developmental projects in St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister, Dr Terrance Drew, handed the cheque to Premier Mark Brantley. According to Premier Brantley, The Nevis Island Administration will utilize the amount from the cheque for a critical project in Nevis.
Following the handover ceremony of the cheque by Ambassador Lin, The Premier and the Prime Minister engaged in discussions regarding the development and upliftment of the twin-islands
Premier Mark Brantley took to his Facebook account to share this development. He also expressed his profound gratitude to the Prime Minister and the resident ambassador from The Republic of China (Taiwan), Michael Lin.
Premier Mark Brantley wrote, on his Facebook Post, commemorating the event:
Today I attended a short but significant ceremony at the Office of the Prime Minister in Basseterre, where Michael Lin, Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan), presented a cheque to Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, who, in turn, presented the cheque to me on behalf of the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) for an important capital project on Nevis.
During that engagement and in our private meeting thereafter, both Prime Minister Dr Drew and I restated our commitment to ensuring that the Federal Government (of St Kitts and Nevis) and the Nevis Island Administration (NIA) continue to work closely for the advancement of the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
I wish to publicly thank Prime Minister Dr Drew for his commitment to greater cooperation and for facilitating this significant contribution to the further development of Nevis and, by extension, the wider Federation.
He also thanked the Republic of China (Taiwan) for continuing not only to be a friend to St Kitts and Nevis but demonstrating that they are truly our best friends internationally.
