The prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, recently took to his social media to share some updates about the healthcare situation in the country. The first part of the update was regarding the eye clinic in the primary healthcare institution in St Kitts and Nevis, The JNF General Hospital. Meanwhile, in the second part of the update, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew promised to provide an update on the two children receiving heart surgeries in the Cayman Islands.
According to PM Terrance Drew, Joseph N General will soon resume eye surgeries on the hospital premises. For this reason, the authorities have procured equipment worth hundreds of thousands of dollars to develop critical eye clinic facilities in the hospital. During a previous inspection tour of the Joseph N General Hospital, The Prime Minister and Minister of Health were informed of the severe shortage of equipment in the eye clinic.
Prime Minister Drew promised to rectify the eye clinic situation as soon as possible. The Prime Minister started the procedure for procuring the equipment for the eye hospital. Presently, the Prime Minister shared that they have successfully procured the equipment. The people have also praised and thanked the Minister of Health, Dr Drew, for sharing the important update with the people.
Meanwhile, Dr Terrance Drew also shared that he would share an update about the one-year-old and two-year-old children who are receiving life-saving heart surgeries in the Cayman Islands. Reportedly, The children are receiving treatment under the government’s initiative to provide critical healthcare to the children whose parents can not afford the costs of the treatments for their child.
PM Terrance Drew, also the minister of health for the federation, announced the initiative on the day of the swearing-in ceremony of his cabinet. The Prime Minister believes that no child should die if their parents can not afford the costs of the treatment
