Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, led a delegation of ministers, representatives and high-ranking government officials from the country to the historical coronation ceremony of the King of England, Charles III and the Queen Consort, Camilla. During the multi-day visit, the prime minister met and interacted with several notable members of the international community and discussed his plans for development of St Kitts and Nevis.
The coronation ceremony was hosted at Westminster Abbey in London.
The delegation of the prime minister of St Kitts and Nevis consisted of the minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, the Premier of Nevis, Mark Brantley and other high-level government officials such as Governor General, Deputy Governor General and Permanent secretaries.
After the conclusion of the historic coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey, guests attending the event were invited to Church House adjacent to the Abbey. The UK Foreign Secretary hosted a reception for members of the international community who graced the occasion with their presence.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew greeted the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom in the presence of the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis Marcella Liburd and accompanied by Foreign Minister Dr Denzil L. Douglas. He took full advantage of this opportunity offered by the gathering to meet leaders and senior officials of several countries. Following this, Prime Minister Dr Drew spoke decisively about his vision for transforming St Kitts & Nevis into a resilient, sustainable island state.
Prime Minister Dr Drew shared with officials that his government would soon establish a task force which would be charged with animating appropriate strategic approaches to address, in a whole-of-government approach, the ongoing water issues in the country. The task force will also address the issues concerning renewable energy and develop mechanisms to manage the country’s marine resources sustainably.
According to the Prime Minister, they will be working on forging partnerships to achieve those strategic, targeted and measurable goals through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
PM Dr Terrance Drew further maximised the opportunity, in his brief encounter with a senior UN official, to share information on his approach to universal health care and asked for support from the UN in prioritising health care access across the Caribbean.
