Dr. Terrance Drew, Prime Minister St Kitts and Nevis, had a productive bilateral meeting with Deb Haaland, United States Secretary of the Interior, and Roger Nyhus, United States Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis (U.S. Embassy Bridgetown) at SIDS4 in Antigua.

Prime Minister Drew, along with Dr. Denzil Douglas, met with Deb Haaland and Roger Nyhus for several important discussions that reaffirmed commitment to the Sustainable Island State Agenda (SISA).

On the second day of the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), PM Terrance Drew, accompanied by Dr. Denzil L. Douglas, actively participated in several high-level meetings and bilateral discussions.

They both attended the High-Level Meeting on the Mobilization of Resources for SIDS Side Event that focused on marshaling resources for Small Island Developing States.

“Our discussions focused on climate change and its devastating impact on Small Island Developing States like St. Kitts and Nevis, as well as other pertinent issues relevant to the region,” said Dr. Terrance Drew.

Dr. Denzil L. Douglas conducted several meetings with the Denmark Delegation headed by Christina Markus Lassen and other dignitaries, focused on enhancing diplomatic ties and transitioning from fossil fuels to renewable energy.

In addition, St. Kitts and Nevis’ advocacy for Cuba was appreciated by the Cuban Delegation by Vice-President Salvador Valdes Mesa.

Later, Minister Denzil Douglas also met with the Indian delegation, including Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Pavan Kapoor and the High Commissioner of India, Dr. Amit Telang, accompanied by Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Mutryce Williams.

Dr. Douglas discussed priorities over major issues such as renewable energy, creative economy, and diplomatic expansion. Mr. Pavan Kapoor outlined opportunities and ways to support these goals.

St. Kitts and Nevis value the opportunities provided by SIDS4 to strengthen diplomatic ties and seek partnerships to support the Sustainable Island State Agenda.
