St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew expressed his delight in receiving Simon Springett, the United Nations Resident Coordinator for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, as he presented his Letter of Credence.
Significantly, UN Coordinator Simon Springett is on his first official visit to the Federation since his recent appointment.
PM Terrance Drew shared the highlights of meeting Springett through his official social media account and noted the pleasure of receiving him.
PM Drew extended congratulations to the UN Coordinator on his new appointment and also expressed sincere gratitude for the continued support from the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office. He stated that their support plays a vital part in advancing the development of St Kitts and Nevis.
In addition to this, the Prime Minister also shared and discussed ideas and opportunities for further collaboration.
According to the information, Simon Springett also paid a courtesy call on Premier Mark Brantley at his office in Pinneys Estate. He was accompanied to Nevis by the UN Country Coordination Officer for St Kitts and Nevis, Cosbert Woods.
Mark Brantley welcomed Simon and said that he looked forward to engaging with Simon and significantly, Simon expressed real pleasure to have a conversation with the Premier of Nevis.
Premier Brantley said that the UN’s new coordinator has come over to have some conversations. He also mentioned that St Kitts and Nevis is involved with several Un programmes and through the UN Resident Coordinator, they have a direct contact into the UN.
It is also to be noted that the United Nations is the world’s foremost multilateral organization that serves small and large nations alike, said Brantley.
During the meeting, Springett and Premier Brantley discussed updates on the proceeding UN programmes and other activities of the UN in St Kitts and Nevis.
Apart from the political discussions, Simon Springett also took the opportunity to travel around the famous destinations of Nevis, such as the historic bath Stream and the Alexander Hamilton Museum.
