St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew was delighted to attend the Annual Award Ceremony of the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Affairs held on March 8th, 2024, in honor of International Women’s Day at the Royal St Kitts Hotel. He congratulated 12 awardees of 2024 and recognized their efforts in shaping the nation.

While reflecting upon the meeting, PM Drew also urged the communities to join him in congratulating the 2024 Awardees and recognizing them for their respective fields.

Women Awardees for 2024 are as follows:

  • Juliette Caines – Women in the Service Industry
  • Keimon Archibald-Lake – Early Childhood
  • Marissa Hobson-Newman – Law and Enforcement
  • Joycelyn Patricia Farrell – Charity and Volunteerism
  • Glenda Warner-Bassue – Communication/Entertainment
  • Brenda Clarke – Women in Small Business

He further also congratulated the special Awardees of the Ceremony. These special awardees are as follows:

  • Ethel Bowen – Empowerment Award
  • Ambassador Rosalyn Hazelle – Legacy Award
  • Shorna Maynard – Prime Minister’s Award

The three outstanding 2024 Pioneering Women inductees, which are as follows:

  • Alexa Douglas – Pioneer in Land Surveying
  • Michelle ‘Sister Sensia’ Stokes – Pioneer in Deejaying/Music & Entertainment
  • Cynthia Maynard – Pioneer in Correctional Services at Her Majesty’s Prison

PM Drew offered his heartfelt congratulations and deepest gratitude for their unwavering commitment to progress and excellence. He remarked on them as the driving force behind the positive transformation of their society. 

“As Prime Minister, I am inspired by your resilience, passion, and dedication. Let us continue to champion equality, empower one another, and build a future where every woman’s potential knows no bounds,” the PM added. 

At last, he also extended his congratulations to the awardees again, quoting, “Congratulations once again to our illustrious awardees! Together, we celebrate your triumphs.”

This is to be noted that the award ceremony was held under the theme, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. It was chaired by Toni Frederick-Armstrong and a keynote address by Dr. Valda Henry, Deputy Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank. 

The 2024 Annual Award Ceremony was held in the presence of several dignitaries from the Government of St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Terrance Drew and First Lady Diani Prince-Drew, Dr Geoffrey Hanley, Minister of Social Development & Gender Affairs, and Senator Isalean Phillip, Junior Minister of Social Development and Gender Affairs, along with other Awardees, well-wishers, and Ministry staff.
