Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew recently met Governor General Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP, marking their first meeting in 2025 in accordance with Section 57 of the Constitution of St Kitts and Nevis, that mandates the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis to fully inform the Governor General about the general conduct of government affairs.
The two delegates had a meeting on February 7th, 2025, and the meeting recalled the constitutional requirement of the Prime Minister’s to keep the Head of State informed about matters within the government.
PM Drew presented Governor General Liburd with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, to appreciate her two years of service and to express his respect and gratitude to her.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is a medical doctor and the fourth and current Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis. He was elected to the National Assembly during general elections on August 5th, 2022.
On November 28th, 2021, he was elected the head of the St Kitts and Nevis Labour Party.
Recently, PM Drew highlighted several topics of national interest during his Roundtable discussion on February 6th, 2025, including the budget boost wallet, updates in the Road Traffic amendment bill, and development in the renewable energy sector.
He also shared various initiatives taken by the government to promote innovation, public safety, and economic stability in the Federation.
Governor General Dame Marcella Liburd
Governor General Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG, JP, has been the fifth governor general of St Kitts and Nevis, serving since 2023.
She was the first female to have the designation of Speaker of the National Assembly of St Kitts and Nevis and the Governor General.
She is the first Governor General appointed by King Charles III. She has served as the Acting Prime Minister and as the Chair of the Opposition for the Labour Party.
