Spencer Brand, Minister of Labour, Public Works, Physical Planning, Posts and the Environment in the Nevis Island Administration (NIA), took to his social media to share an update on an ongoing developmental project in Nevis.

On Friday, October 14, the Surrey Paving & Aggregates Co. and the NIA (Ministry of Communications & Works) hosted a signing ceremony for the 2nd phase of the Island Main Road and Safety Improvement Project.

He shared the same on his Facebook Account, writing:

Today, October 14 2022, I witnessed the signing ceremony for the 2nd phase of the Island Main Road and Safety Improvement Project from Cliffdwellers Estate to Mount Nevis Hotel entrance and from Shaws Road to Nisbett Plantation Between Surrey Paving & Aggregates Co. and the NIA (Ministry of Communications & Works).

This 3.4 Km Road Project at 7 meters wide, will see a significant upgrade to the drainage and road carriageway along the project corridor.

Let me use this opportunity to Thank the Bank of Nevis Ltd. for partnering with the NIA to realize this project’s commencement.

Thanks to Surrey Paving for being a willing partner with the People of Nevis. Thanks to my Cabinet colleagues for their unwavering commitment and support for this Project!

Further, Minister Brand expressed his thankfulness to the people who made the execution of the Project possible.

He wrote, “Thanks to my Permanent Secretary, Dr Ernie Stapleton, Principal Assistant Secretary, Denzil Stanley, and young De-Jono Liburd from our Legal Department. Jevon Williams, Director of our Public Works Department, played a valuable role in bringing us to this point.”

We expect that the administration will be able to execute and achieve practical mobilization within 14 days. In the meantime, the Minister of Labour, Public Works, Physical Planning, Posts and the Environment appealed to motorists to drive with due care and attention as the Works proceed.

Commitment Made Commitment Kept!!
