St Kitts and Nevis Minister of Foreign Minister, Dr Denzil Douglas participated in a high-level virtual meeting with the representatives of the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank).
The information about this significant virtual meeting was shared by Minister Douglas through his official social media on September 11, 2024.
Minister Dr Denzil Douglas delegation in the meeting included officials from the several fields of the Federation.
The Delegation featured was the Department of International Trade; Sean Lawrence, Director and Kevin, Arthurton, Research Officer; the Consumer Affairs Department, Paul Queeley, Director
It also included delegation from the Department of Industry and Commerce, Deidre Daniel-France, the St. Kitts and Nevis Bureau of Standards, Jermaine Mike, Deputy-Director; the St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA), Stanley Jacobs, Director; and the Economic Development and Investment Department; Teslyn Morris, Economist.
It is to be noted that the high-level virtual meeting was led by the Client Relations, Ermine Darroux-Francis.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister of the nation explored potential investment opportunities for St Kitts and Nevis.
He also discussed the ideas in which the African Export Import Bank could support the efforts of the Government to advance trade and economic development for its citizens.
In addition to this, Minister Douglas underscored the Government’s interest in developing the Federation as a Sustainable Island State.
The highlighted focus areas of discussions included renewable energy, water, climate change mitigation, affordable housing, sustainable agriculture, export development, and more.
Notably, the African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank) opened the doors for the CARICOM in Barbados last year, 2023.
Significantly, Dr Denzil Douglas and the Afreximbank have rightly agreed to schedule future discussions to explore more opportunities, potential partnerships, and financial solutions.
These future meetings will help support the Government’s objective for a more prosperous and sustainable economy for the island nation of St Kitts and Nevis.
