The Premier of Nevis and Leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Premier Mark Brantley, received the high commissioner of Canada to St Kitts and Nevis and the OECS, Lilian Chatterjee. The two political leaders interacted with one another on several issues of importance during their visit.
The Premier of Nevis shared glimpses of the meeting on his social media account. The Premier of Nevis noted that he was honoured to receive the Canadian diplomat. Further, he also alluded that Canada and St Kitts and Nevis enjoy a close and deep diplomatic relationship. He further noted that Lilian Chatterjee knows the issues between the two nations.
Reportedly, the premier was most excited to welcome Canada’s high commissioner to Nevis as this is her first visit to the sister island since her appointment. Lilian Chatterjee was appointed as the Canadian High Commissioner to the OECS (Barbados, Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia & Saint Vincent & the Grenadines) in the year 2021.
In her former visit to the twin island federation, she had visited St Kitts and could not extend her stay to Nevis. At the time, serving minister of Foreign Affairs, Mark Brantley, had insisted she visits the sister island on her next visit.
Taking to her Twitter account, Lilian Chatterjee stated that she was fulfilling her commitment to Premier Mark Brantley. She had promised Premier Mark Brantley to visit the island of Nevis to visit the island on her next visit.
She expressed that she was extremely happy to interact with Premier Mark Brantley. She also noted that Nevis is a beautiful island and that she looks forward to exploring the island during the day.
The premier of Nevis presented his esteemed guests with the packages of Nevis Naturally. According to the NIA, the packages contained locally-made hot sauce and rum and several memorabilia from the island.
